ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Spotlight Artist: Surrender Dorothy
Surrender Dorothy are South Yorkshire’s answer to loud guitars, raw vocals, and ultimate grunge energy.
Female fronted and unapologetically heavy, they deliver sweat soaked live sets packed with distorted favourites, big hooks, and the songs you forgot you loved until you’re shouting along. It’s ’90s alternative grit you didn’t know you were missing in 2026.
Known for high energy performances and strong crowd connection, Surrender Dorothy are fast becoming a go to booking across the South Yorkshire music scene.

Venue Spotlight
Every show needs a home. This months spotlight is shining on the Imperial Music Venue— keeping live music alive in Mexborough

Tucked away in the heart of Mexborough, Imperial is a true grassroots venue that consistently delivers more than you’d expect.
It hosts everything from new local bands finding their feet to established touring acts, as well as comedy shows from across the UK. Based at Arcadia Hall on Cliff Street, it’s long been a trusted home for live music in South Yorkshire. The venue is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, with plans to come back stronger and better equipped for artists and audiences alike.

keep the scence alive
Live music doesn’t run on luck. It survives because people turn up. When you buy a ticket, grab a T-shirt, or walk into a venue, you’re directly helping bands keep going and venues keep their doors open. Without that support, shows stop happening and scenes quietly disappear.
South Yorkshire’s music scene has always been built on hard work and passion. From back rooms and pubs to packed-out halls, every gig counts. Supporting local bands isn’t a favour — it’s how new music gets made and new artists get a chance.
Venues give bands a place to grow. Bands give venues a reason to exist. And the crowd is what makes it all work. So keep turning up, keep making noise, and keep the scene alive.
